About NeuDICE

History of NeuDICE

NeuDICE started as an idea from Dr Anne Collis, emerging from her PHD. Stu found the plain english version on her LinkedIn and reached out, wondering how they might work together and then things just... spiralled. We now support neurodivergent entrepreneurs across the UK, with hubs in Plymouth, Swansea and Bangor.

Co-Founder, Director, Volunteer

Stu Watson, they/them

Stu has been with NeuDICE since the very beginning, supporting Dr Anne Collis in bringing her dream to life.

They lead the Plymouth Living Lab, and Tuesday Check-in so you have probably seen them around!

Stu managed to get us Shed752 at The Plot, and has put a lot of time into making sure the space is as sensory-friendly as possible - ensuring there is plenty of low lighting, headphones, weighted blankets, and stim toys for our community to use.

They have a background in business management and academia - currently a visiting lecturer on two courses as a local university, and is a director of two other CIC's: Ethical Activities and Queer Out Loud.

Director, community builder, volunteer

Mimi Jones, they/he

Mimi brings a younger perspective to NeuDICE, ensuring that young people feel represented and supported within the business community.

They primarily manage the website and Discord, along with organising volunteers so that the community always has someone to talk to when they visit Shed752.

Mimi joined NeuDICE as a community member during the initial launch phase, and supported the Plymouth launch by performing a poem NeuDICE commissioned. They supported Stu and Anne as an Access To Work aide before joining as a director in 2024.

Mimi is also founder of Queer Out Loud CIC who share Shed752 with NeuDICE, so you may see them around in either role.

Ed The Duck

Ed is many things but at their heart, Ed is there for you.

The concept of Ed comes from 'rubber ducking' in programming - when trying to debug a code, a programmer will go through line by line, and explain what they have done in a neutral language. Ed is there to listen to whatever project you are working through, and hopefully through talking to them, you will find the issues to work on!

Ed can also be used as a stim toy. Theres a little squeak which can be quite nice to fidget with, or you can take that out and simply squish them (don't worry, Ed doesn't mind)

Some members have drawn or written symbols of things they need to do, or put Ed in a place as a reminder. Director Stu has an Ed with the Discord logo on to remind them to check on the server, for example.

And there are hundreds of other uses too, do whatever works for you! You can tell us about your success over in "How I use Ed" on our discord.
